Maras & Moray
Maras y Moray are located in the sacred valley of the Incas. Moray is known because is the only circular terraces of the Incas time that we know and Maras is the salt mines.
Maras is currently still being used by the local people. Maras was a necessary step for the carriers and their mule trains carrying tropical products and especially coca leaves from the high jungle of Cusco to satisfied the needs of the city of Cusco and the country.
Maras y Moray
We start our tour heading towards the town of Maras, through very typical populations and landscapes that we enjoy in our way. In the town of Maras and covers highlights the colonial streets, with shields of the nobles and chiefs of the XVII and XVIII.
Then we visit Moray, which is 7km from Maras and come to be unique circular terraces with their respective irrigation system is a prototype greenhouse. The deeper hole has 150 meters. And from one terrace to another, there is a difference of 15 ° C. These terraces contributed to get major advances in agriculture.
Then continue to the salt mines of Maras, which has about 2000 small wells, which were already exploited since Inca times. The salt mines were an economic exchange and even now continue to be exploited by the locals.
After our visit we return to Cusco.
